Interdisciplinary Skills                                                                       Return to top

Professional Knowledge and Skills

ü      Most recent full time position -- airline industry -- Created a high volume of documentation that was easily understood and immediately put to use by employees with disparate responsibilities and retention levels.

Required a solid understanding of various jobs and where they fit into the Company's mission. (Although I worked full time in the office at Headquarters, most station managers and duty managers would probably agree that I was always the first “guest” in a station to jump to the counter or gate to help in a crunch or put on work gloves to help on the ramp, setting the pace while providing subtle and effective coaching.)

Management Skills

ü      Ability to field ongoing questions, find solutions and quickly resolve issues borne of over 25 years’ experience in sales and management as corporate “trouble shooter,” professional writer, and coach.

ü      Substantial experience in telephone transactions as well as the one-on-one “micro” negotiations that take place in through in-person sales of products and services.

ü      Successfully worked with skilled and unskilled people alike in areas ranging from technical disciplines such as meteorology and sophisticated financial and statistical transactions through boarding multiple flights simultaneously.

 Communication/Presentation Skills

Written

ü      Business-related articles published nationally discussing subjects such as business plan preparation and review, receivables factoring, electronic billing, IPO preparation, and Federal Government departmental spending history/patterns and projections.

ü      Business/strategic and operating plans resulting in the funding of over $40 million to small-to-midsized corporate clients. Funding vehicles ranged from state-subsidized real estate ($6 million +) to IPO’s ($10 million) through conventional lending and venture capital.

ü      Press releases, joint venture proposals, position papers, training materials
(technical/financial/management training), reviews of proposed commercial real estate transactions.

 Presentation

ü      30-hour Business Plan Workshop as requirement for certification under SBA program. Conceived, developed and presented the program at local college for two years, working with over 200 local entrepreneurs. Program covered a broad spectrum of new-business topics such as document preparation, municipal/state/federal registration, product development, market review and marketing planning, sales planning and presentation development, promotion and advertising, and record-keeping.

ü      Numerous professional seminars to clients and prospects dealing with business and personal financial planning and investments.

ü      Small-scale training for corporate clients on selected topics integral to the successful operation of the client’s business or department.

ü      Presented and performed before as many as a thousand guests (twice in two years).
